Joshua McKinney is the winner of the first John Ridland Poetry Prize for his book Sad Animal (2024). He is the author of four previous books of poetry. His award-winning work has appeared in such journals as Boulevard, Colorado Review, Denver Quarterly, Kenyon Review, New American Writing, and many others. He is co-editor of the online ecopoetics zine, Clade Song.
